Mugshots Bar & Grill is coming to Columbus.
Jim Hicks, who along with Tray Gamble owns Mugshots in Starkville and Meridian, told The Dispatch this week a plan is in place to bring the popular eatery to Columbus. The duo is working with a local developer. Hicks said a location has been picked but he declined to say where until all plans are finalized.
The restaurant will open in Columbus in 2016, according to Hicks.
The first Mugshots opened in Hattiesburg in 2004. The restaurant has since opened spots in Tuscaloosa, Meridian, Starkville, Tupelo, Flowood and other towns, according to its corporate website.
Hicks and Gamble own the Mugshots in Starkville, which opened about a decade ago, as well as the Mugshots in Meridian, which opened in 2012.
Speaking of eateries, a Moe’s Southwest Grill opened on the Mississippi State University campus Saturday.
A fast-casual restaurant that specializes in southwestern food, Moe’s began in Georgia in 2000. The MSU location, which is located at the north end of Perry Hall in the center of campus, is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Friday.
Megan Fricke, a public relations specialist with the restaurant, said it employs 25 to 30 people.
According to the Moe’s corporate website, the only other Mississippi locations are in Moss Point and D’Iberville. There are two in Tuscaloosa.
Lastly, over in Starkville, a Holli’s Sweet Tooth is opening.

It features a candy wall with, for example, more than 43 flavors of Jelly Bellies; truffles; and chocolate-covered Oreos, blueberries, sunflower seeds, pecans, almonds and more. Also: Ice cream.
“Life is sweet,” is the motto.
The Starkville location, according to its Facebook page, aims to open by the end of August.
