An affidavit filed by Starkville-Oktibbeha County School District Superintendent Lewis Holloway against one of his accusers has led to an arrest.
Holloway, who turned himself into the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department on Aug. 10 for two counts of simple assault by threat, filed an affidavit on Aug. 12 in Oktibbeha County Justice Court against Roy Couvion, of Starkville, for an alleged altercation that happened in the spring.
According to the affidavit, Couvion hit Holloway in the jaw with his fist and pushed him down. The altercation happened May 3 near Holloway’s home on Mt. Olive Road.
Couvion turned himself in about 10 a.m. Monday on a count of simple assault and was released on $500 bond about an hour later, records show.
Couvion filed an affidavit on Aug. 10 for a confrontation that allegedly happened the previous day. He accused Holloway of putting him “in fear of eminent bodily harm” by threatening him with a gun and shooting it into the air. The incident reportedly happened on Mt. Olive Road.
Holloway was arrested after Couvion filed the affidavit. He was released shortly after on $1,000 bond.
Holloway threatened another victim during the altercation, according to a sheriff’s department release after his arrest.
On Aug. 10, the Starkville-Otkibbeha County School District placed Hollway on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation into the matter by the board attorney.
Holloway and Couvion are scheduled to appear in Oktibbeha County Justice Court on Aug. 15.
