TUPELO — A Tupelo woman has been indicted on charges of taking money from residents at an assistant living facility.
The attorney general’s office says in a news release that 31-year-old Brandi Smith, 31, turned herself in to Lee County authorities Friday after she was indicted for exploitation of a vulnerable person.
The indictment alleges that while Smith was employed as a nurse aide at an assistant living facility in Saltillo, she obtained over $250 from two residents without authorization and fraudulently converted it to her own use.
If convicted, Smith faces up to 10 years behind bars.
It is unclear if Smith has an attorney.
