A Walmart shopper claims to have been assaulted by another shopper who vandalized U.S. flags in the store, authorities say.
At around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the Columbus Police Department responded to a disturbance at the Highway 45 North store. A customer told police a man had entered the sporting goods section with an American flag and began stomping and spitting on it. The man also took flags from the shelf and threw them on the floor. The customer attempted to pick up the flag and was assaulted by the man, authorities say.
The man then left the store.
Raymond Hackler, a public information officer with CPD, said no arrests have been made in the case and police are not conducting an investigation.
