Former Starkville resident and retired Presbyterian minister Sandra Price will sign copies of her memoir, “Katrina’s Grace,” at the Book Mart in Starkville from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Price’s book is about the aftereffects of Hurricane Katrina on her life. Price, who now lives near Jackson, lived in Gulfport in 2005, when Katrina hit the coast. In the book, Price describes the aid she received from friends and volunteers who helped with recovery after the storm.
“This is my story of all the grace I experienced after Katrina,” she said.
The book is dedicated to Trinity Presbyterian Church in Starkville, which Price said is made up of many people who helped her and others on the coast following the storm. It is extremely spiritual, Price said, focusing less on the storm itself than on the grace she experienced afterward, both from watching the coast recover and from having relationships with the people who helped her.
“My hope about my book is that the people who read it will have somehow have their own lives and their own souls touched and that it will be a healing experience for them,” Price said.
In addition to signing copies, Price will read an excerpt from the memoir at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
