Authorities say a man accused of robbing a West Point bank in July has been taken into custody in Georgia.
West Point Police Chief Tim Brinkley says Titus Lamb, 23, is being held in Atlanta after U.S. Marshals arrested him there Saturday. Brinkley declined to release any information regarding the arrest.
“We’re just glad he’s behind bars,” Brinkley said in a press release. “An extradition hearing has been set for later this week. After which we expect to transport him back to West Point to start the adjudication process.”
Authorities say Lamb walked into the Renasant Bank on East Main Street on July 27 and produced a note demanding money. The teller opened a cash drawer and Lamb reached across the counter and began grabbing money. Then he ran out of the bank’s back door heading north, according to WPPD.
After identifying Lamb as a possible suspect, local authorities notified U.S. Marshals in Georgia that he could be in Atlanta.
West Point police are still investigating the robbery to determine if other parties were involved. Anyone with information is asked to call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers or the West Point Police Department at 662-494-1244.
