A Flora man faces numerous charges after he escaped Starkville Police Department custody during a Thursday traffic stop.
At about 4 a.m., officers pulled over a vehicle driven by Austin Rivers McGraw, 18, after he was allegedly speeding on Spring Street.
After he was placed into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence, officers began arranging transportation from the scene for the vehicle’s other occupants.
McGraw then exited the patrol car and fled the scene, a SPD release states.
About 5 p.m. that day, he turned himself in to authorities after warrants were issued for the escape, alleged DUI, petit larceny and other traffic violations.
McGraw was served, processed and bonded out of custody that day.
He will appear in Starkville Municipal Court on Nov. 2.
