U.S. marshals arrested two men Wednesday allegedly connected to two drive-by shootings in Starkville last month.
Christopher O’Bryan Lockhart, 22, and Corey Dywane Quinn, aka Smooth, 22, were apprehended by agents at a South Bend, Indiana apartment complex.
Both were wanted after two different shootings occurred on Oct. 14. The first incident occurred at 109 Tabor St., and the second followed at 1040 Montgomery St.
No injuries were reported from either incident.
Lockhart and Quinn were both charged with two counts of drive-by shooting and one count of possession of a stolen firearm. Bail was set at $600,000 for each suspect.
They are awaiting extradition to Mississippi.
Authorities say Lockhart was previously found in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana by Starkville police officers in September and charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
After multiple shots rang out at the two crime scenes last month, officers chased a vehicle to an area near the Haven 12 apartment complex, located near Mississippi State University, where a number of suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled.
Nia Kamyra Smith, 19, was immediately arrested for suspicion of participating in one of the shootings, felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Starkville Police Department also charged Derek Javonte Hardnett, aka Magic, 21, of Starkville, with possession of a stolen firearm and drive-by shooting after he turned himself in to authorities at the end of October.
SPD has released few details about the incidents because of the nature of its ongoing investigation, but Det. William Durr previously said the shootings could be tied to weapon trafficking and gang activity.
The U.S. Marshal Service and Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force previously offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to arrests.
