TUPELO — Police say a high school band director was arrested on drug charges after he was found in possession of crystal methamphetamine.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports Tupelo High School band director Timothy Matlock was arrested Monday in Union County during a traffic stop.
New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson says Matlock was charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine. He reportedly bonded out of the county jail Tuesday.
Matlock was named band director at Tupelo High School in 2011. Matlock has also served as band director at Tupelo Middle School and assistant band director at the high school. He has received teacher awards from the district.
Gearl Loden, the school superintendent, confirmed the arrest and said he has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation by the school district.
