BILOXI — More than 13,000 people cheered for Donald Trump at Biloxi’s Gulf Coast Coliseum, while dozens protested outside in the cold.
The event was Trump’s first public appearance in Mississippi since the 1990s, when he tried unsuccessfully to build a $60 million casino on the coast.
The crowd came to its feet many times, stamping and cheering — or booing when Trump talked about the news media, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton or President Barack Obama.
News media report that Trump told the crowd “There’s love in these rooms,” and said people are tired of stupidity and incompetence.
About 25 to 50 protesters gathered outside. Some came in response to a Facebook group called Gulf Coast Against Trump.
