Authorities continued to search for suspects Saturday afternoon after an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg in south Columbus.
Ian Gardner was riding a bicycle near the intersection of Fourth Street South and 15th Street South, near Friendship Cemetery, when an unknown car approached him about 3:45 p.m. Friday, according to a Columbus Police Department release. Four men got out of the car and a verbal altercation between them and Gardner began.
One of the men shot Gardner in the right thigh. He was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in a private vehicle. Authorities say his injuries are not life threatening.
CPD continues to investigate Friday’s shooting incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call Golden Triangle CrimeStoppers at 800-530-7151.
Last fall, Gardner was charged with a residential burglary in Starkville that occurred in September in the Louisville Street area. The status of that criminal case is unknown.
