Columbus residents who live in Ward 5 will take to the polls Tuesday to decide who represents them on the city council.
Four candidates qualified for the special election: Cadarrall Eddings, Gary Jefferson, Stephen Jones and Marthalie Porter.
Voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at two precincts: the Mississippi University for Women Carrier Lodge (802 First Street South) and Union School (1425 10th Avenue North).
Only the 3,175 registered voters who live in Ward 5 can vote.
The special election is being held to fill the Ward 5 council seat, which has been vacant since late December, when former councilman Kabir Karriem resigned to begin his term in the Legislature.
