A Columbus family was displaced from their home after a late Sunday night fire.
Columbus Fire & Rescue spokesman Anthony Colom told The Dispatch a fire broke out at the family home in the 400 block of Waterworks Road. Four people were home at the time, but all escaped unharmed, according to Colom.
CF&R is still investigating. Colom, though, said officials suspect the fire began in the kitchen. The kitchen suffered heavy fire damage and smoke damage is spread throughout the rest of the home, according to Colom.
The family stayed in CFR’s newly-opened temporary shelter after the fire. Since then, Colom said, the Red Cross has provided a hotel room for the family.
