Former Mississippi State University defensive lineman Chris Jones was arrested Wednesday after a traffic stop by local law enforcement, documents state.
According to the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department arrest and booking log, Jones, 22, was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended license near MSU’s campus.
The sheriff’s department confirmed he was released on a $922 bond after he was booked and processed yesterday. The former Houston high school standout started all 13 games for MSU at defensive tackle and was a
second-team All-America selection by Pro Football Focus. He left MSU early and declared for this year’s NFL Draft. Jones now shares the distinction of facing criminal charges before the draft with former MSU
quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott was charged with speeding and driving under the influence Saturday after city police officers pulled him over while driving near the Cotton District. Two Intoxilyzer tests performed on Prescott failed to yield his breath alcohol level, but officers denoted Prescott refused testing on his traffic citation and on a letter sent to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
Prescott’s court date was set for 2 p.m. April 11 at Starkville Municipal Court.
