The trial of a former Columbus Police Department reserve officer has been continued until May, according to a Lowndes County Circuit Court spokesman.
Richard Carr”s case was scheduled to go to trail during the February term of Lowndes County Circuit Court, but had to be continued due to prosecuting attorney Lindsay Clemons” illness, a spokesman said.
Sixteenth Circuit Judge James T. Kitchens was scheduled to hear the case of Carr, 46, who was charged with two counts of statutory rape, according to the circuit court docket.
Carr was terminated in May 2009 from his duties as a CPD reserve officer after he was arrested by Oktibbeha County officials on the sex charges.
Carr”s case was also scheduled to be heard during the November term, but was continued due to the Brian Holliman trial.
Carr is being represented by Columbus attorney Steve Wallace.
