The Columbus Police Department continues to investigate an aggravated assault which took place Saturday morning and left one person in the hospital.
According to CPD Public Information Officer Terrie Songer, officers were dispatched to 520 Ninth Ave. S. in reference to an aggravated assault. A man hit his ex-girlfriend in the head with what appeared to be a table leg, Songer said. Police did not identify the man or the woman.
The victim was taken to the Emergency Room at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle with several lacerations to her head. The offender left the area in the victim”s pickup truck after the assault, Songer said.
Criminal Investigations was notified and has taken over the investigation. No other information was available.
