STARKVILLE — Girl Scouts Heart of the South recognized eight women from Columbus, Starkville and West Point at the inaugural Women of Distinction Luncheon on April 1 at the First Baptist Church Outreach Center in Starkville. Nominations were submitted from throughout the Golden Triangle Region honoring women who demonstrate qualities of leadership and excellence in their professional, family and personal endeavors. Aundrea Self from WCBI was emcee for the event and Amy Tuck was the keynote speaker. The audience of business sponsors, honoree’s family, friends, co-workers and other civic leaders enjoyed an afternoon dedicated to inspiring women who give of themselves and their time and talents to make the Golden Triangle Region a better place.

■ Anne Stricklin, Starkville community volunteer
■ Tammie Tubbs, Starkville motivational speaker and television host.
