The Columbus Police Department is interviewing a local man allegedly tied to the April 30 shooting of the Highway 69 North Sprint Mart.
Lonnell Thompson Jr., 20, of Columbus, turned himself in to the Columbus Police Department Monday evening, Columbus Public Information Officer Joe Dillon said.
Thompson was booked in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center, Dillon said. He will be questioned by police later today, according to CPD Capt. Brent Swan.
Authorities will decide after the questioning whether or not to press criminal charges against Thompson.
Another suspect, Tyquina “Ty” Kidd, 19, turned himself in May 3. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of shooting into a motor vehicle and one count of shooting into an occupied building. His bond was set at $175,000.
The Sprint Mart shooting occurred about 1:30 a.m. on April 30. Shortly after the shooting, a 23-year-old was treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for a gunshot wound to the ankle. Police said the incident and the injury were both tied together.
