A second suspect has been charged in the April shooting at a local Sprint Mart, according to a press release released via the Columbus Police Department’s Twitter account.
Lonnell Thompson, Jr., 20, of Columbus, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of shooting into a motor vehicle and one count of shooting into an occupied building.
Police had issued a warrant for Thompson’s arrest and had alerted the community asking for information on his whereabouts. Thompson turned himself in to police Monday.
Thompson is one of two suspects to be charged in relation to the April 30 Sprint Mart shooting, which resulted in one person being transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle with a gunshot wound to the ankle. The other suspect, Tyquina “Ty” Kidd, 19, turned himself in on May 3 and received the same charges as Thompson.
Municipal Court Judge Rhonda Ellis set Thompson’s bond at $175,000.
