A joint effort by law enforcement agencies in Columbus, Lowndes County and Lamar County, Ala., led to the arrest of a Vernon, Ala., resident wanted on multiple felony charges.
On Friday, Columbus-Lowndes Metro Narcotics agents apprehended Jordan Matthew Moore, 22, of 348 Matthews Road in Vernon, Ala.
According to information provided by Columbus Police Department Public Information Officer Terrie Songer, law enforcement agents had received information that Moore was wanted in Lamar County, Ala., on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping and third-offense domestic violence.
“Alabama law enforcement had received information Moore was attempting to avoid capture by hiding out in Mississippi, somewhere near the state line,” Songer said.
A joint operation, which included the Vernon Police Department, Lamar County Sheriff”s Office, and the Columbus-Lowndes Metro Narcotics Unit, resulted in Moore being located and arrested in the 500 block of Westbrook Road in northeastern Lowndes County.
“On Monday, deputies with the Lamar County Sheriff”s Department picked up Moore from the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center,” Songer said.
Moore could face additional charges and more arrests are possible in the assistance of Moore in his quest to avoid capture.
