A suspect in the Main Street shooting death of a Columbus man this week is in custody.
Darrion Walls, 27, of Columbus, turned himself in at the police department about 11:20 a.m. Thursday, according to Joe Dillon, public information officer with the city.
Walls is accused of shooting Deanthony Jones, 23, outside of the Sandfield One Stop on Tuesday evening. Jones later died of his injuries at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
After turning himself in Thursday, Walls, who was complaining of stomach and chest pains, was taken to the hospital. After being treated, he was released and remains in custody at Lowndes County Detention Center.
Dillon said Walls is expected to go before a judge next week.
