A report of a fight at East Columbus Gym on Wednesday lead to the arrest of a Columbus man for possession of stolen firearm.
Jeffrey Jamail Gordon, 19, of 608 Cypress St, in Columbus was arrested after Columbus Police Department officers responded to a report of a large fight that involved weapons, according to a press release. Upon arrival, police said Gordon and a juvenile were stopped at the scene and a Remington 700 bolt-action shotgun was found inside the vehicle. The shotgun has been previous reported as stolen in a burglary to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. Both Gordon and the juvenile were arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm. Bond was set at $10,000 by Municipal Court Judge Rhonda Ellis.
One arrested, two sought for cyberstalking
On Thursday, Columbus Police Department officers arrested a Columbus man and are seeking two others in connection with a cyberstalking incident.
CPD officers arrested Freddie L. Williams Jr., 32, of 106 Madiera Drive, on charges of cyberstalking and possession of a firearm by a felon. A report was filed with the CPD on July 26 alleging that Williams, along with two other men, sent a video threatening violence against another person and posted it online. Also sought in connection with the incident are Columbus residents Marcell Terrell Bishop, 24, of 105 Maple St. Columbus, and Gerald Demarcus Williams, 24, of 310 Curtis Road.
In the video, a firearm was seen in Williams’ possession, which led to a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond was set at $25,000.
The CPD is asking for the public’s help in locating Bishop and Williams. Anyone with information on their location is asked to call the CPD (244-3500) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
