Clay County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a fourth man in less than a week on arson charges.
Deputies arrested Thomas E. Williams, 72, of Pheba on suspicion of two counts of arson.
Williams was booked in Clay County Jail Monday afternoon. He posted $100,000 bond and was released less than two hours later.
Late last week, CCSO arrested 54-year-old Michael Tribble, of Cedar Bluff, 42-year-old Jason Williams, of Maben and Daniel Easley, 38, of Oktibbeha County, also on suspicion of arson. The three were arrested for their suspected involvement in the May 6 arson of a home on Tribble Road in western Clay County.
The Dispatch has not confirmed if Williams’ arrest is related to that incident, but Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said further arrests and charges were expected in the case.
All four men are scheduled to appear Sept. 15 in Clay County Justice Court.
The Dispatch could not reach Scott for comment by press time Tuesday, but further details are expected later today.
CCSO requests anyone with information call the department at 662-494-2896 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
