A Columbus man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a child.
Lowndes County sheriff’s deputies arrested Johnny Lee Saddler, 62, of 641 Hodges Shelton Dr., near his home Sept. 2. Saddler has been charged with two counts of fondling/touching a child for lustful purposes.
Deputies arrested Saddler at about 7:20 p.m. after receiving a call about a possible sexual assault on a minor, Chief Deputy Marc Miley said. Miley confirmed the victim is younger than 14.
Saddler was convicted in 2014 following four fondling charges in 2013. He was out on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections when arrested for the most recent charges, Miley said.
Saddler is still in the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. Justice Court Judge Peggy Phillips set his bond at $500,000, according jail officials.
The case is still under investigation.
