Starkville Utilities issued a boil-water notice for portions of north Starkville Tuesday that is expected to last through 5 p.m. Friday.
Areas falling under the notice include: northwest of the Hospital Road-Highway 389 intersection; Garrard Road, between Lewis Lane and Highway 389; and Plantation Homes, Rolling Hills, Indian Ridge, Redbud Springs and Reed Place neighborhoods and subdivision.
The notice was issued after as a precautionary measure after an extended water outage, the department reported in a release.
Water intended for human consumption or used to wash uncooked vegetables should be boiled for at least two minutes prior to use.
