A Columbus man is accused of aggravated assault after he allegedly attacked another man with a knife.
Columbus police arrested Frederick Pate, 45, of 1703 26th St. N., at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday after he allegedly sliced a 47-year-old victim’s face during an altercation near the intersection of 15th Street North and Seventh Avenue North. The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
A CPD officer had been patrolling the area on foot when he reported he heard Pate and the victim arguing, according to a Columbus Police Department press release. The officer asked both men to leave the area, and the alleged assault occurred as the two men were walking away.
Pate was later arrested a few blocks from the scene.
His bond is set at $20,000, and he is being held in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
