Sprout Baby & Child has closed after 12 years in Starkville.
The award-winning, family-owned store, located at 419 East Lampkin St., has enjoyed five years under its current name, with seven years prior as Personally Yours Monogramming. During its operation, the store has been awarded numerous Best of Mississippi honors from Mississippi Magazine, including the 2016 “Best Place to find Baby Items” award.
A closing sale was held Oct. 28.
Another popular gift shop will soon be leaving the Starkville area, but not before the holidays.
The Jeweler’s Bench, located at 124 Hwy. 12 W., has been offering fine retail jewelry and jewelry repair services since 1984. The store is planned to close the week after Christmas.
In addition to meeting various fine jewelry needs, from engagement rings to anniversary and birthday gifts, the Jeweler’s Bench also offers repair and engraving services. The store is open 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Starkville’s Sage Coffee and Books has moved to a new location in the Cotton District.
The independent book store moved from its former location at 216 Lumus Drive to 19 Page Street about three months ago. The store was formerly located in Meridian where it was run by the current owner, Lara Hammond, and her mother.
Sage is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily with varying hours when needed by patrons. In addition to books of all genres, the storefront also offers art from local artists and various vinyl records.
A book-signing event, the second at the new location, is planned for Nov. 20 with Elizabeth Guider.
