A Lowndes County man is in jail for allegedly robbing his 90-year-old mother.
Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Alvin Skipper, 52, of 109 Ranson Road, on Friday.
According to Lowndes County Justice Court documents, a witness who lives with Skipper’s mother reported to deputies that Skipper entered their Ranson Road home and asked his mother for money. When she refused, Skipper pulled the breaker switch, shutting off the power to the residence, the witness said. Skipper then grabbed his mother and tried to take money from her, according to the witness.
The witness told deputies he was able to get Skipper’s mother outside and in a car before Skipper left the home. During the incident, Skipper reportedly grabbed a stick and began hitting the witness with it.
Deputies found and arrested Skipper on Motley Road not long after the incident. The witness told deputies he retrieved most of the money Skipper allegedly took.
Skipper has been charged with attempted robbery, for which his bond was set at $10,000, and misdemeanor domestic violence, for which his bond is $1,000. He is being held in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
