Lowndes County School District board members unanimously approved the recommendation of Graham Roofing of West Point to complete re-roofing projects for New Hope schools and others in the district at a special called meeting Wednesday .
Joey Henderson, an architect with JBHM Architects, met with board members and Superintendent Mike Halford to discuss the roofing project that was tabled at the March meeting.
Henderson said that because Jolly Construction of Collierville, Tenn., made an error in their bid, they asked to have it withdrawn; the board choose the next best bid, which was submitted by Graham.
Halford said roof work is expected to be done not only at New Hope Schools, but also at Caledonia schools and West Lowndes Middle School.
The total cost of the projects is about $4 million, said Halford.
“Once these projects are complete, every roof we have on our buildings will be under warranty, which will be good if we have to face tornadoes or other natural disasters,” he said.
