Local legislators will host a Saturday morning forum at East Mississippi Community College in Mayhew to discuss state issues.
The event will feature District 16. Sen. Angela Turner Ford (D-West Point), District 38 Rep. Tyrone Ellis (D-Starkville), District 36 Rep. Karl Gibbs (D-West Point), District 41 Rep. Kabir Karriem (D-Columbus) and District 42 Rep. Carl Mickens (D-Brooksville).
The forum, to be held in the Douglas Building, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and is free and open to the public.
Legislators will discuss a civil service employee bill, criminal justice reform, election reform, public school funding and other education matters, along with other issues.
District 15 Sen. Gary Jackson (R-French Camp), District 37 Rep. Gary Chism (R-Columbus) District 39 Rep. Jeff Smith (R-Columbus) and District 12 Rep. Jay Hughes (D-Oxford) have been invited but not confirmed for the forum.
