The suspect in a shooting at a local convenience store is in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Officers with the Columbus Police Department arrested Leronn Gregory, 25, of 608 Chestnut St., at his home Wednesday after he allegedly opened fire in O-Kay Foods on Seventh Avenue Tuesday afternoon. Two people went to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle with gunshot wounds, and one was later airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Gregory was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a weapon because authorities said he is only accused of shooting one of the victims. Municipal Court Judge Gary Goodwin denied Gregory’s bond because the suspect was previously indicted on a murder charge in Lowndes County Circuit Court.
In that case, Gregory is accused of shooting and killing Brandon Michael Gordon in East Columbus on Jan. 3, 2016, and was out of jail after posting $100,000 bond.
CPD Assistant Police Chief Fred Shelton said investigators may arrest more suspects in the O-Kay Foods shooting, but they are not currently releasing any other suspects’ names at this time.
