BYHALIA — McCormick & Co. will open a distribution center in north Mississippi, investing $6 million in equipment and hiring 48 workers.
The Maryland-based manufacturer of spices, herbs and flavorings, will open by midyear in a 615,000-square-foot building in Marshall County’s Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park.
Mississippi Development Authority spokeswoman Tammy Craft says McCormick will lease the building from a developer for 10 years.
McCormick Vice President Scott Simmons says the warehouse will allow the company to improve customer service and create space for growth.
MDA is providing $346,000 to pay for sewer improvements, with Marshall County matching 10 percent of that amount. The county is also granting property tax breaks for building and equipment worth $9.2 million over 10 years.
Craft says the company isn’t disclosing how much workers will make.
