Mississippi University for Women police have secured a warrant for a suspect accused of exposing himself to students and others all over campus.
Thursday the MUW Police Department secured a warrant for Laterrance Stewart, 29, of Columbus, for indecent exposure and profanity. Police received “multiple reports” of the suspect, who apparently wore a backpack and glasses to blend in with students, and would loiter around buildings on campus. Whenever asked if he needed assistance, he would say he was waiting for a relative to get out of class, according to University Relations Executive Director Maridith Geuder.
As far as authorities know, none of the incidents of Stewart on campus have escalated past exposure.
MUW PD is working with Columbus Police Department and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office to arrest Stewart. Anyone with information is asked to contact MUW PD at 241-7777, CPD at 324-3500 or LCSO at 328-6788.
