A man is in the hospital after an alleged assault on Tuesday.
Police Chief Oscar Lewis said the victim, a black man in his 30s, was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle Tuesday morning after suffering injuries in a reported assault at the Chanticleer apartments on Sixth Street North. Lewis declined to release the victim’s name or if a weapon was involved in the incident.
Officials further declined to comment on the victim’s condition or the extent of his injuries, though Capt. Brent Swan said he was still hospitalized as of Wednesday morning.
Lewis said Tuesday CPD is investigating to determine if the assault is a domestic or aggravated case.
“911 got a welfare concern call,” Lewis said. “A friend found him and called 911, and we went to the scene. We haven’t been able to get an update from the victim.”
Lewis said CPD expects to make an arrest soon in the incident. However, he said the department is waiting to first speak to the victim.
