A Lowndes County grand jury has indicted a woman accused of serving a customer a cheeseburger smeared with bodily fluids at Jack’s Family Restaurant on Hwy. 45 in Columbus.
Sky Samuel, 19, was arrested in January and charged with “knowingly selling unwholesome bread or drink,” a felony which could land her in prison for up to five years, upon conviction.
Columbus Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Samuel on Jan. 20 after a post authored by the mother of another Jack’s employee on Facebook accused her of smearing menstrual fluid and saliva on a cheeseburger and serving it to a drive-through window customer at Jack’s on Jan. 7.
CPD launched an investigation after a Tupelo woman filed a complaint, saying that she was the victim who received the tainted food. Samuel turned herself in on Jan. 22. She was released after posting $5,000 bond.
An indictment means the grand jury found enough evidence to move the case forward to a jury trial.
