Officers with Columbus Police Department have arrested five West Point residents believed to be involved in a Golden Triangle-wide “burglary ring.”
Just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, police received a call about a burglary in progress at a residence on Sierra Court off 31st Avenue North, according to a CPD press release. Patrol officers arrived at the scene to find five suspects, along with stolen items located in the suspects’ white SUV.
The suspects are Stefon Cox, 21, of 1066 E. Hazelwood Road; Daquan McFarland, 20, of 300 Crowell St.; Tavarus Lavon Pigram, 21, of 660 Darracott Road; Jasimine Mona Webber, 19, of 1779 W. Hazelwood Road; and Jeanesha Jonee Cox, 19, of 37 Hillside Park.
Stefon Cox and Pigram were both charged with three counts of burglary of a dwelling and one count of burglary of an occupied dwelling. Cox’s bond has been set at $100,000 and Pigram’s at $70,000.
McFarland was charged with three counts of burglary of a dwelling. He was denied bond because of a previous felony charge in Clay County.
Webber and Jeanesha Cox were both charged with one count of burglary of a dwelling. Webber’s bond was set at $250,000 and Cox’s at $20,000.
All but Webber are still in custody at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
CPD investigators are working with police departments in Starkville and West Point and believe the five suspects are involved in multiple burglaries in multiple counties in the Golden Triangle, according to the press release. Investigators are still locating property from different burglaries and expect to make more arrests.
In addition to Sierra Court, members of the ring also allegedly burglarized locations at Falcon Lair on 31st Avenue North and Audubon Cove off Holly Hills Road in Columbus.
City Public Information Officer Joe Dillon said police were notified of the Sierra Court burglary because of a neighbor who saw the crime taking place.
Officials from WPPD were not able to comment on burglaries in West Point by press time. SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady confirmed only that investigators are working with other law enforcement agencies about these burglaries.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151 or CPD at 244-3500.
