Mississippi Highway Patrol released figures on highway safety during the Memorial Day weekend on Tuesday, reporting 122 crashes, including two fatal collisions, and 110 impaired driving arrests.
The holiday period, which began at 6 p.m. on Friday and ended at midnight Tuesday, saw MHP issue 4,583 citations.
Single vehicle crashes took the lives of two men in Lawrence and Holmes counties, which 34 others were injured as a result of crashes.
Troop G, which patrols the Golden Triangle area, reported 13 crashes, one of which was alcohol-related, with three non-fatal injuries. Four DUI arrests were made in Troop G, according to the MHP report.
