Mississippi University for Women Campus Police arrested a Columbus man after he caused a disturbance on campus Saturday morning.
According to MUW Police Chief Kennedy Meaders, a black male went onto the campus after hitting two cars in town with his vehicle, a matter handled by the Columbus Police Department.
Meaders said the subject then came onto the campus to the Stark Recreation Center where he drove his vehicle onto the curb.
“He knocked down four small pine trees in front of the recreation center, then he went inside and was talking incoherently with a worker at the desk. The worker then told the subject to sit down on a couch,” Meaders said.
The subject then started walking across the couch, then went outside, Meaders said. An MUW police officer then took the subject into custody.
Meaders identified the subject as Ronnie Lee McCaw Jr., 27, of 429 Swartz Drive in Columbus.
“We charged him with malicious mischief, simple assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and indecent exposure,” Meaders said. “I felt that he was under the influence of some substance, so he was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.”
Tests showed that McCaw was under the influence of marijuana, Meaders said.
“He was then transported to Willowbrook,” he added.
