Columbus police said this morning they haven”t developed any new leads on a potential suspect in the fatal shooting at a Columbus nightclub Tuesday night.
Police recovered a gun at the scene, but have not released information on the type or caliber. And no suspects or vehicles have been associated with the crime.
“We are still investigating the cause of the shooting. We are still looking into any possible leads and the type of weapon that was used,” said Columbus Police Department Cpl. Donnie Elkin.
On Tuesday night, the unnamed suspect opened fire inside the Everyday Club and Lounge, at 1603 Seventh Ave. N., killing one man and injuring three others. The deceased victim was identified by Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant as Quinton Spencer, 20, of 455 Merry Valley Drive in Columbus. A sign painted on the club”s door states no one under 21 is allowed inside.
According to Elkin, officers responded to the call at 10:49 p.m. The club is in a small building surrounded by houses, a few businesses and apartments.
Elkin has identified the other three victims as Nydia Colenechie Wilson, 23, of Columbus, who was treated and released from Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle; Trenne Lamonte Williams, 41, of Columbus, who also treated and released; and Marshall Ray Burgin, 24, of Columbus, who remains in the hospital in critical condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.
According to scanner traffic heard during the incident, Wilson was able to take herself to the hospital; Williams sought help at a nearby house before being taken to the hospital; and Burgin was shot in the lower abdomen and was leaving the club when officers arrived. Spencer was shot in the chest, according to the reports.
Investigators on the scene Tuesday night appeared to know the identity of the suspect, but no information on him was released.
Lowndes County sheriff”s deputies came into the city to aid with patrols Tuesday night as Columbus officers worked the investigation.
Elkin said anyone with information concerning the shooting should call the CPD at 662-244-3552, or call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
