After 19 years in business, Robin McMillen is looking for someone to carry on the Sun Struck tanning salon.
“I don’t want to send the wrong message, Sun Struck is not going away,” McMillen said regarding her search for new ownership or management.
Due to health issues, McMillen has been wanting to find someone to take her place at Sun Struck for a while.
“It’s just gotten hard for me to maintain a business this big,” she said.
McMillen’s plans are for everything to remain open and operational with the transition to new management. Those interested may contact the owner at the store.
Sun Struck is located at 1928 N. Hwy. 45. and is open 10 a.m.-7:15 p.m. Monday-Saturday. The salon has been named as the “Best of the Triangle” eight times and was “among the best” in 2017.
Ziggy’s Buy and Sell thrift shop in Starkville plans to close by the end of the month.
Leslie Watts has operated the consignment store at 434 Hwy. 12 W. for nearly six years. The 6,000 square-foot lot has moved a broad range of antiques, furniture and collectibles over the years. Watts kept the store stocked through numerous trips out of state to various antique shows and thrift sales, alongside offering consignment services and booth rental options for clients.
“We’re just moving on,” Watts said about the closure. “There were a lot of factors that led here.”
Until then, the store remains open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Saturday. Watts is attempting to sell Ziggy’s full stock before closure and is reducing prices across the store.
A new business expansion is on its way to Starkville following the closure of the Denny’s located at 500 Hwy. 12 E.
Super Sonic Car Wash, previously noted to be expanding to East Columbus, has posted a coming soon banner over the restaurant’s sign. According to Geoffrey Lean, a manager at the Starkville location, the old restaurant must be leveled before construction can begin, at this time there is not a projected opening date.
