STARKVILLE -- An unknown number of houses and trailers were damaged this afternoon in Oktibbeha County when a line of severe storms passed through the area, County Administrator Don Posey said.

Posey said he was enroute to damaged homes at about 2:20 p.m., shortly after a storm which reportedly produced a tornado downed trees north and west of Starkville in the area of Sun Creek Road. Emergency responders were heading toward the scene, Posey said. Posey said he doesn''t believe there were any injuries.

Scanner traffic in Lowndes County reported damage near Columbus Air Force Base.
