A second suspect in an armed robbery outside a north Columbus home is in custody in Alabama.
Anthony Prowell, Jr., of Reform, Alabama, is in law enforcement custody in Pickens County, according to a press release from Columbus Police Department. Prowell, 26, is accused of pointing a gun at a man outside his home on 19th Street North early on the morning of June 24.
Prowell and another suspect approached the victim as he was getting out of his vehicle and heading to his house and demanded money. During the altercation, one of the suspects shot into the home. No one was injured.
CPD officers who arrived at the scene caught the other suspect, 37-year-old Jeffery Dymont Collie, of Aliceville, Alabama, and arrested him for armed robbery, shooting into an occupied dwelling and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He is still in custody at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center with bond set at $350,000.
Authorities expect to take Prowell to Columbus this week. The extradition process is expected to begin Wednesday, according to Public Information Officer Joe Dillon.
