A July 8 shooting at an Everglade Avenue apartment complex in Starkville left one person injured and another person behind bars.
Although the Starkville Police Department released few details on the incident, Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady said the victim did not receive life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from OCH Regional Medical Center a short time after the shooting.
On Thursday, local police officers with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal Task Force arrested Portia C. Manning, 27, of Starkville, charging her with aggravated assault, possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana.
Her bond was set at $33,102, which includes a prior charge for carrying a concealed weapon and violating the terms and conditions of probation.
Manning is due to appear before Judge Rodney Faver in Starkville Municipal Court Aug. 21.
SPD released no additional details about the shooting or the arrest.
