Columbus firefighters continue to investigate a fire in Southside Columbus this morning.
According to information provided by Columbus Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike McReynolds, firefighters responded to a call at approximately 7 a.m. to the 500 block of Seventh Street South regarding a house fire.
“A battalion chief and two engines were dispatched to the scene, then a second alarm, and a special alarm for a ladder truck was called for. We ended up with 17 to 18 firefighters on the scene,” McReynolds said.
McReynolds added that CFD Fire Chief Kenneth Moore was also on the scene. Firefighters, at 9 this morning were, still at the building putting out hot spots.
It was not known if there were any occupants inside the two-story wooded building that has been converted into an apartment building, McReynolds said. However, there were no injuries.
There is an undetermined amount of smoke damage to the building, he added.
“That is still being investigated by our department”s fire marshal,” McReynolds noted.
