Police are searching for suspects in an armed robbery in North Columbus Monday.
The suspects reportedly entered a home on 15th Avenue North at about 4 a.m., according to a press release from Columbus Police Department. The home’s resident, a 63-year-old man, told police he heard a knock on the front door. When he opened the door, one of the suspects asked for a drink of water. The suspect then barged past the victim and into the kitchen where he let two more suspects in through the back door.
One of the suspects hit the victim in the head with a shotgun, the press release said. The suspects then took an undetermined amount of cash and a cell phone and left the home.
Medics who responded to the scene treated a cut on the back of the victim’s head, but the victim did not go to the hospital, the press release said.
All three suspects are described as black males.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call CPD at 662-244-3552 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
