Zachary’s restaurant has long be known for its giving back, something owner Doug Pellum feels is a big part of his restaurant’s ethos.
So when Hurricane Harvey swept through east Texas in late August, Pellum knew what he wanted to do.
“We’re just trying to help out,” Pellum said. “The people there are in desperate need. Sometimes, it’s your turn to help. That’s what we’re doing.”
Zachary’s will host a “Help for Houston” fundraiser from 1-6 p.m. Sunday
Local distributors Better Brands, Clark Beverages and Budweiser have donated kegs while the Zachary’s staff will be serving burgers, wings and fries. There will be a $5 cover charge. All proceeds will be donated to Global Living, a crowd-funded nonprofit that will donate money collected to local Houston-area organizations such as Houston Food bank and Houston Humane Society.
“We also have five local acts who have donated their time and will be providing entertainment,” Pellum said.
Zachary’s is located at 205 Fifth St N.
