Columbus Air Force Base closed its main gate to all traffic for about an hour Thursday after a shipment of goods was flagged as potentially unsafe.
According to a CAFB press release, a military working dog team was doing a routine vehicle inspection earlier Thursday when it signaled a household goods shipment may have been too dangerous to allow it to enter the base.
The base closed the main gate, the Visitor Control Center, Exchange, Commissary and nearby buildings while security forces secured the area, the release said.
Authorities gave the all clear and the gate was reopened at about 1 p.m.
