Photo: Fire destroys Sturgis home

An early-morning fire destroyed this home on the corner of Highway 12 and Sturgis-West Point Road in Sturgis. The Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call at 1:15 a.m., with firefighters from Central Oktibbeha County and Maben fire departments also responding. The home was fully engulfed as firefighters arrived and the house was total loss. The occupants of the house, believed to be a mother and her child, were not at home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, according to Oktibbeha County Fire Services Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan.
