A Columbus man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery Friday at McDonald”s in East Columbus.
At 4:06 a.m. Friday, Columbus Police Department officers were dispatched to McDonald”s, located at 937 Alabama St., for an armed robbery.
A McDonald”s employee was taking trash to a nearby dumpster when a black male, wearing a blue bandana over his face and a gray hooded sweatshirt, approached him and pointed a handgun at him, said Terrie Songer, CPD public information officer.
The suspect forced the employee to open the back door of the restaurant and, once inside, demanded money, Songer noted.
The suspect, who exited the restaurant through the back door, ran behind Southern Family Market.
The CPD”s criminal investigation division was notified and responded to the scene.
Jeremy Lamar Evans, 22, of 2324 Fourth Ave. S. later was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
