Members of the 2nd Battalion of the 114th Field Artillery of the Army National Guard will depart from Starkville and Columbus on Monday to prepare for a one-year deployment to the Middle East.
Approximately 35 personnel from Columbus will depart by bus at about 7:30 a.m. from their headquarters on Fabritek Drive, near the county airport. They will leave Columbus on Highway 69 with a Columbus Police Department escort.
Members of the Starkville Army National Guard will leave by bus from the National Guard Armory on Highway 12 at approximately 11 a.m. to go to Fort Bliss, Texas for deployment.
Community members are welcome to gather for the send-offs to show support.
